YOUR PRIVACY AT KNOCK KNOCK

Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Knock Knock and Naidhruva Technologies access, use, protect, retain, and delete information.

Who we are

Knock Knock is an ephemeral social application provided by Naidhruva Technologies. Questions or privacy requests can be sent to info@naidhruvatechnologies.in.

Information we collect

We store information needed to operate your account and the app, including your email address, display name, username, optional profile photo, door and availability settings, friendships, blocks, reports, notification preferences, and device push tokens. We also retain content-free interaction summaries such as participants, duration, and streaks.

End-to-end encrypted conversations

New temporary-room messages are encrypted on the sender’s device and decrypted only on participant devices. Our infrastructure stores and transmits ciphertext and cannot read message content. Message ciphertext and read state are deleted when the room closes. Temporary typing state also disappears with the room.

Participants, timestamps, delivery and read state, duration, and other interaction metadata may be processed so realtime delivery, activity, safety, and streak features can work. Recipients may still capture content displayed on their devices.

Contacts and friend suggestions

Contact access is optional and starts only after you choose Find from contacts and grant permission. Knock Knock reads contact names and email addresses; it does not request phone numbers or other contact fields for this feature.

Email addresses are transmitted securely to our Supabase-hosted matching service solely to check whether they belong to existing Knock Knock accounts. Contact names remain on your device. Submitted contact email addresses are processed for the matching request and are not written to our database. We retain only a request count and timestamp for rate limiting and abuse prevention. Matching public account profiles are returned so you can choose whether to send a friend request.

Contact invitations

If a contact is not matched to an account, choosing Invite opens your device’s email app with the contact’s email address and a suggested invitation. You decide whether to edit or send it. Knock Knock does not send invitation emails automatically.

How we use information

We use information to authenticate accounts, show profiles and availability, connect friends, deliver privacy-safe knock notifications, operate temporary rooms, provide friend suggestions, enforce privacy choices, investigate information users explicitly submit in reports, prevent abuse, secure the service, and maintain app functionality.

Sharing and service providers

Information is shown to other users only as needed for social features and according to your settings. Infrastructure providers such as Supabase and Firebase process data for authentication, storage, databases, realtime updates, notifications, and contact matching. We do not sell personal information or contact information, and we do not publicly disclose your address book.

Your choices and controls

Contact access is optional. You can decline it or revoke it at any time through your device settings; username search remains available without contact access. You can edit your profile, control availability and notifications, block or report users, change account credentials, and permanently delete your account from Account & security.

Security, devices, and retention

Private encryption keys are stored in secure device storage and are not uploaded to us. Public device keys and encrypted room-key copies are stored to establish encrypted sessions. You can review and revoke devices from Account & security. Reinstalling the app creates a new device identity, and previous room messages cannot be recovered.

We also use authenticated access, encrypted network connections, and database row-level security. No service can guarantee absolute security. Account data remains while your account is active, except temporary message ciphertext that is deleted when rooms close. Some records may be retained when reasonably necessary for safety, fraud prevention, legal obligations, or resolving disputes.

Reports and encrypted content

Because conversations are end-to-end encrypted, Knock Knock cannot inspect room message content. When submitting a report, only the information you explicitly enter is shared with us. Do not include message text unless you choose to disclose it for investigation.

Account and data deletion

You may permanently delete your account inside the app or initiate a request from our Account Deletion page. Deletion removes the account and associated data, subject to limited retention required for security or legal obligations.

Children

Knock Knock is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate consent, contact us so we can investigate and remove it.

Policy updates

We may update this policy as the app evolves or legal requirements change. We will update the date above and provide additional notice when a change materially affects how information is handled.
